Early Spring 2005

These daffodils have been bloomed for about a week, though the others are just starting to bud. I'm not sure if it's because these are covered with a thick layer of mulch, or if they're just crazy. Posted by Hello

I've never really looked at this site before other than opening the links you had to Destructo Boy, The Mean Cow, and Catalina but this afternoon I read it like a book and it's a wonderful book. Your farm is beautiful. So are the flowers at your house. Although I memorized every Mother Earth News from the beginning, actual gardening is a brand new thing and I completely forgot about planting early blooming bulbs. Next year I'll get it right. Spring is coming early to the plains also. All historical precipitation records have been shattered in the past few months, so it should be a very interesting spring as well.

Well thank you, Kenneth. The red bushes & the daffodils were already here, but I planted the crocuses & hyacinths last year. Like you say, I kept forgetting to get bulbs too. I actually got the hyacinths on clearance because it was so late in the season. lol I've never had much of a green thumb, but I'm learning. I planted some hollyhocks last year that I hope will bloom this summer. My grandmother always had them, and I always think of her when I see them.

BTW, I'm really enjoying your photos, too.
