Pieces of April

My stepdaughter planted these when they first moved here. They're gorgeous every year. Posted by Hello

I planted these interspersed with bright yellow tulips a couple of years ago. The yellow ones didn't bloom this year for some reason. Prolly something I did. Posted by Hello

There's a nice spread of these beside our driveway....whatever they are. Posted by Hello

I planted this several years ago, so I don't remember its name. But it makes a nice bright spot of color in a shady area. Posted by Hello

These bushes get huge, some are close to 9 ft. tall. They're rather invasive too, though I don't mind b/c they make a nice hedge. They're covered in red berries in the winter....birds love them so they don't last long. Posted by Hello

More Spring Flowers

Looks like a bumper plum crop this year, barring hail storms or high winds. These make the best plum jelly you ever had. Posted by Hello

It's almost like looking up during a snowstorm...but it smells much better. Posted by Hello

There were all kinds of bees & flies all over the blooms....not many honeybees but there were a few. Posted by Hello

Nothing shy about these white violets. They're all over the lawn and along the driveway. Posted by Hello

These aren't nearly as prolific as the white ones, and seem to prefer the flowerbed or hiding near the fence. Posted by Hello

This is cinquefoil, a member of the rose family. Posted by Hello

Last, and least, are these tiny flowers. I'm not sure exactly what they are, but they're very dainty. Posted by Hello

Irish Eyes

One set of my great-grandparents, on their wedding day. The little boy is my great-grandpa's little brother. (And shame on you for thinking otherwise) It's too cute the way he's clinging to his big brother's pants leg. Posted by Hello

Same great-grandparents, many, many years later. Great-grandpa passed away not too long after this photo was taken. Great-grandma lived to be close to 100. She passed away in the early 1980's. Hard to believe how much their world had changed between the times of the two photos, isn't it? Posted by Hello
